Empowering Public Sector Through Simplified Business Solutions

Tyler Technologies

CIO Vendor Tyler Technologies is an integrated provider of end-to-end information management solutions and services for public sector, with a key focus on local governments. Founded in 1966 by John S. Marr, CEO, Tyler provides software and services to more than 11,000 local government offices throughout all 50 states of the U.S. including the U.S. Virgin Islands, Canada, Puerto Rico, the United Kingdom and other international locations.

Tyler partners with clients to empower the public sector which involves cities, counties, schools and other government entities to become more efficient, accessible and responsive to the needs of citizens. “Tyler’s professional services include consulting, network design and management, installation, conversion, customization, training, and ongoing support. The company’s business units have been providing software and services to customers for more than 2 decades and have long-standing reputations in the local government market for quality products and customer service. With our company’s national presence and a loyal customer base, we stand proud to provide the ‘best of breed’ products,” exclaims Marr.

The company operates in two segments. First is the Enterprise Software Solutions (ESS) segment, which provides municipal and county governments and schools with software systems to meet their IT and automation needs for mission-critical back-office functions, such as financial management and courts and justice processes. Secondly, the Appraisal and Tax Software Solutions and Services (ATSS) segment provides systems and software that automate the appraisal and assessment of real and personal property, as well as property appraisal outsourcing services for local governments and taxing authorities.

These mission-critical applications provide counties and municipalities with the ability to streamline and automate operations, resulting in improved productivity and reduced costs.

The company’s financial management solutions include modular fund accounting systems for government agencies and non-profit entities. It also offers products to automate various city functions, such as municipal courts, parking tickets, equipment and project costing, animal and business licenses, permits and inspections, code enforcement, citizen complaint tracking, ambulance billing, fleet maintenance, cemetery records management, student information, and transportation solutions to K-12 schools and other software applications to manage public sector pension funds.

In addition, the company provides integrated suite of judicial solutions comprising court case management, court and law enforcement, prosecutor, and supervision systems to handle single and multi-jurisdictional county systems. It also offers subscription-based services, such as Software-as-a-service arrangements and electronic document filing solutions for courts and law offices, thus enabling county governments to enhance and automate courthouse operations.

While competitors target multiple vertical markets, Tyler’s singular focus is to deliver essential software solutions that empower the public sector. “At Tyler, we have an insider’s understanding of how to build, install, train and maintain solutions designed to meet the unique needs of the public sector,” adds Marr.

Going ahead, Tyler is continuing to enhance its offerings of products and services to add value to local governments. It plans to add features like Web-based solutions for real-time public access and electronic commerce solutions for traffic tickets, utility bills and taxes, thus treading high potential road to accelerate its business and growth.
